Excision of Tuberculous Glands

چکیده
not a single vessel has required ligature though the chain of glands on the carotid sheath have been excised and the internal jugular vein laid bare, as well as a group or groups in the posterior triangle; and I have not known it to be necessary to cut the sterno-mastoid in any single case, though the glands lay underneath this muscle. Although the neck may be loaded with enlarged glands, their removal becomes an operation in which all thought of the anatomy can be put aside, and the beginner can proceed with perfect confidence. It is necessary to be equipped with the following instruments:? (1) One Watson Cheyne's fine dissector, (2) One Smith's cleft palate raspatory, (3) One Jameson Johnston's gland enucleator,

Roentgen Therapy in Tuberculous Cervical Lymphadenitis
Radical operation of glands in the neck leaves very bad scars, and moreover it is practically impossible to remove all the infected glands. Recurrence rate after radical operation is also high. Moreover, the cosmetic results of surgical excision are not significantly better than those of untreated cases. Good cosmetic result is really the first aim of treatment. Five cases of spinal intramedullary tuberculomas (IMT) and one case of spinal intramedullary tuberculous abscess (ITA) are presented. Gd enhanced MRI revealed ring enhancing lesion with central hypodensity, suggesting granulomatous pathology. Surgical excision of the intramedullary lesions was carried out in four cases, while two patients received presumptive anti-tuberculous chemotherapy only....

متن کاملBrainstem tuberculous abscesses successfully treated by microsurgical excision: A case report and review of the literature
In patients without systemic manifestations of tuberculosis, isolated brainstem tuberculous abscesses are infrequently observed. The present study reports a rare case of two cystic tuberculous abscesses involving the dorsal aspect of the medulla oblongata in an otherwise healthy 14-year-old Chinese girl, whose primary complaint was respiratory distress. These lesions were successfully treated u...
